Chocolate bars and vanilla lattes

These are two things that I have always liked, but until motherhood, did not fully appreciate. There is some sort of magic in these two things for me since having Hunter. They make me take a deep breathe and just let every care in the world disappear.
Today I got out for a bit by myself and did some grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. When I was checking out, I saw this shiny gold bar of milk chocolate, turns out it was actually a 3-pack. I HAD to have it. I was about half way home when I remembered the chocolate bars. I put a piece in my mouth, and hear "Oh happy day, happy day, You wash my sin away" on the radio, I was in heaven!
My lattes seem to put me in the same state, like there is nothing that can bring me down at the time.

Poopy Day...

Hunter and I had an interest thing happen on Monday evening. He had a poopy diaper, my back was really hurting that day, so I was in the middle of changing his diaper on the living room floor. All of a sudden the door bell rang, so I ignored it, but it kept ringing. I started to get flustered and annoyed and hurried up and put a new diaper on him. I set the dirty diaper to the side and ran to get the door.

Of course, just who I wanted to see, Kirby vacuum sales people that would not take no for an answer. Finally, after a few minutes of me being blunt and telling them that I do not want a Kirby AND I do not have time for them to clean my carpet, they finally left.

I returned to Hunter only to find that he had rolled his way over to the poopy diaper and had taken out one of the hard turds. He had proceeded to hold the turd in between his fingers and then put it to his mouth to gum it. GROSS!!! I freaked out a little and of course, cleaned him up, washed out his mouth, and immediately called my dad to see if he was going to get sick from it.

I had mentioned that life as I knew it was about to change.... boy was I right! I've never been one to have to learn the hard way for the most part, but I feel like it's a whole different story when it comes to parenting. Lesson learned..... do not leave Hunter anywhere near anything that I don't want him to hand, especially poopy diapers!

Successful shopping day!

Hunter is happiest when he is out and about in his stroller, looking at everything around him. After his cranky evening yesterday, I decided that we needed to get out and about today. So, we went on a shopping excursion to Bellevue Square. He was an angel! We walked around and shopped for about 3 hours and he hardly made a peep and got in about an hour nap while strolling around.

While Hunter enjoyed people walking, I enjoyed shopping. I had a very successful outing. Here is what I came away with: my first pair of Lululemon pants, some jeans for Hunter from babyGap, some Beaba spoons for Hunter, and some clothes for me at Express.

Relaxing Weekend

So, it's just been the two of us this weekend. Jesse left early on Friday morning for a 5 day trip to Japan. So far, Hunter and I have been having a good time.

On Friday, I woke up early with Hunter to go to Auburn High School to cheer on my little sister, Austen, at tennis districts. Then we went to The Little Gym for a class, and then to Tacoma to visit my dad at his work.

On Saturday, I met up with one of my favorite friends, Nicole, at the gym for a group strength class. It was a hard class, we were both struggling to keep up! Hunter played in the childcare center for an hour and was a good little guy.

Then we met up with Hunter's other godmother and my other favorite friend, Meghan, at Red Robin for lunch. It was good to catch up with Meghan, she has to be one of the greatest people on earth. :) At one point, Hunter had dropped his toy under the table, so Meghan and I both put our heads under the table to find it. In the mean time, Hunter had managed to grab one of the sauces and pour it all of the table and get his hands in it. And here begins the life being a mom of a little boy!!!

Hunter took a two and a half hour nap in the afternoon, which allowed me to get some laundry and cleaning done! But then he woke up..... he must be getting his top two teeth because he was a cranky little boy for the rest of the evening! I finally put him to bed at about 7:30 and he slept until almost 7 this morning!

Day in the Life of a Working Mom

I have had a hard time keeping up with the blog during the week because my days seem so full! Here is what my day looks like:

4:45am Alarms goes off
5:00am Shower time
5:00-5:45am I get ready for the day
5:45-6:00am I run around the house frantically... letting the dog outside, packing up Hunter's bag for the day, picking up things around the house, and getting everything in the car
6:00am I get Hunter up, change his diaper, get him in the car
6:45am Drop Hunter off at my parent's house for the day, Grandpa usually has Hunter's breakfast waiting :)
7:00am-11:45am Work
11:45am-12:30pm Lunch at my parent's house with Hunter
12:30pm-4:30pm Back to work
4:30-4:45pm Pick up Hunter and chat with my mom for a bit
5:30pm Get home from work and start dinner, Jesse gives Hunter a bottle and feeds him dinner
6:15pm Dinner time!
7:30pm Start Hunter's nighttime routine: bath, bottle, bed
8:30pm Finally quiet time... which usually involves me curling up on the couch and nodding off during a tv show by 9pm

Then in all begins again....

Some things I do to spare myself chores during the week:
1. Make all Hunter's babyfood during the weekend
2. I do all the laundry on the weekends
3. I try to cut of fruits and veggies for dinner/snacks on the weekends, so I can just grab them and make dinner

The Little Gym

Hunter and I had our first parent/baby session at The Little Gym in Covington. These classes are geared to helping babies with their motor and social skills through activity and music. Hunter had a great time doing the activities and interacting with the other babies.

We sang lots of songs, clapped our hands, did legs exercises, etc. The staff was super friendly and so were the other moms in the class. We had a great time and are planning on going every Friday afternoon.

Check out their website for more info. www.thelittlegym.com

Hunter is a frequent flyer...

We made the trek to Minnesota this past week for Jesse's mom's graduation from college. This was Hunter's 3rd airplane trip in 6 months! He was pretty good on the plane, but I have to admit that it is getting more and more difficult to travel with him as he gets older. He had a harder time falling asleep and sitting still. But overall, it was a great success!

God Thing

I had a "God thing" happen to me on Monday night and I reminded me just how faithful God is. I was backing out of our driveway about to go to Costco and prayed aloud "God, I would be amazing to have a little extra money right now to help with some upcoming expenses" and immediately I thought it was silly and quickly realized that money would not be coming out of thin air.

I then decided to stop by the mail box on my way out of the neighborhood. Low and behold... their was a letter from our mortgage company stating that we had overpaid into our escrow and would be getting a refund check soon after we pay our May 1st payment. And.... it was exactly tenfold what we had sent my little bro to support his missionary calling. How great is our God?
I very rarely pray to God about money, stress, or desirable parking spots. (hee hee) I am guilty of only praying for the "big" things like health, safety, contentment, desire to become more like Him, etc. I am reminded that I need to have continuous conversation with Him which includes even the "small" things. I need to ask of Him because He is the Father and that is what He has asked me to do.

So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you. Luke 11:9
